At least twice in ancient history, humans have arrived to an Indonesian island and began to shrink. Scientists aren't sure why.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/02/science/pygmies-flores-evolution.html?smtyp=cur&smid=tw-nytimes …

Wondering if there's a genetic component that can predict whether a tweeter will read an article before answering questions, particularly key questions the article was written to address.

BTW there is a workaround for the paywall. Open a private browser window. copy and paste the url into the private window. voila! [some publications have wised up and it doesn't always work. But it usually does.]

Or you could accept the fact a lot of people can't afford to subscribe to a half a dozen or more newspapers. Not to mention you've missed the point--people use paywalls as an excuse for not reading articles and jumping in w/comments clearly indicating they've read only headlines

If I subscribed to every publication with information essential to being an informed citizen I'd be running a !100-$200/mo bill. Even an add'l $10 a mo tips my disabled senior budget into the red. But then I'm guessing you don't have a lot of disabled people in your network.

Hey, you do 'travel writing.' How about doing a travel writing piece on what it's like to try to travel as a disabled person? Privilege has its...privileges. You need to wake TF up.

natural selection? limited resources would likely cause both genders to either selectively or subconsciously mate with smaller, less impactful mates. Probably more to do with the availability of fresh water than food. Smaller bodies require less water.

I can only assume that they've considered malnutrition as a cause because recent research shows that there is a height difference between North and South Koreans correlated with malnutrition, with North Koreans being 2-3 inches shorter.

Thanks, but I was looking the source of the study (ie a research paper), not a news article that quotes one the of the researchers without providing a source for the quote. It also doesn’t substantiate the assumption that non-defectors are malnourished or have a similar height.
