"I have three kids. I’ve left them home alone since the age of 7 to drop off dry cleaning, grab a coffee or pick up milk at the local store. My only requests were no cooking, fighting or using the iron."https://nyti.ms/2LXWVk6

My dad left me in our van when he went to get cigarettes. I was 4. I put the van in reverse & it rolled toward the busy street. A complete stranger jumped into the van to stop it & berated my dad when he came out. If that stranger hadn’t stepped in, I probably would’ve died.

Much depends on the maturity & independence of the individual child. At 7, I burned the kitchen rug when I made popcorn (on the stove) for other neighborhood kids. I put the hot pan on the floor because I knew it would melt the counter. #kidlogic Potential for disaster = high.

... thought ppl did this... been left home as young as 4, but I could also fry chicken, do taxes, laundry, hair, and fill out money orders to pay bills so... and I knew how to clean up after myself, and I wasn't a "mess in everything when mom and dad are gone" type of child...pic.twitter.com/XLmkMNu2kf

Yeah, parents probably need to chill a bit; but it all depends on the child. We all know some kids are hurricanes, and some can manage a home better than us.

very true... when mom and dad got home after leaving my brothers, it was Jurassic World meets Beetlejuice... in a mosh pit...

This was my childhood - I was Jurassic Park. . . . OK it’s my adulthood, too.

You agree with @sarahjeong racist tweets? Not sure why she hates white women so much.
