When I think of all the independence my siblings, my friends, & I had as kids, I feel fortunate. If my parents had to be that restrictive & inclusive-to-the-point-of-intrusive in all of my activities, I’d be a claustrophobic wreck today. Plus, I wouldn’t know how to function. SMH

I can’t stand reports like these that ignore the fact that the crime rates and cultures in different countries are, well, different. When I was in Sweden, I could also leave my purse on a table while in the restroom—simply cannot do that here in NY. Doesn’t make me paranoid.

I could cook a dozen meals from scratch at that age and was a cook at a restaurant by 12. Kids today need to live life not hovered over.

From a video baby monitor to a trackable cell phone as soon as they walk, kids nowadays are monitored more like a prisoner than a future adult.

I let my 7 year olds use the iron...and the lawn mower and wash the dishes, help clean and fix the car, make dinner. They'll be 14 and 18 soon. They may even go so far as to get boyfriends or something. OH..the SHOCK...the HORROR! My poor girls. What will become of them?pic.twitter.com/3FTBKSlYya

Thank you. I found this article very insightful. Who knew one could learn so much about child rearing from racists?

Easy for them to say, they won’t go bankrupt if their kids get hurt and have go to the hospital.
