This shouldn't even be a story. You buy tickets. You show up on time. Board and take your assigned seat(s). You are good to go, regardless sexual orientation or other status. Period. Airlines stop overbooking!

And as a passenger I would never assume my flying companions are more worthy than those of others!

@AlaskaAir should apologize and then some. A unnecessary incident occurred. -

Sarah Jeong is the newest member of the NYT editorial board. NYT said she represents their values: She is a ardent racist! She said below: “she gets so much joy out of being cruel to old white men”. Racism is just Racism. You cannot pick a race that is ok to hate.pic.twitter.com/Scc99DFR1T

Uh? Alaska spox: She said that a gate agent had made the seating mistake, and the flight attendant was following protocols to ensure passengers’ safety as the plane was departing from the gate. Gays sitting together are dangerous!
-
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Alaska Airlines: we made a mistake seating you, now move or get the hell out of the plane

You just have to wonder what goes through people's minds when they do foolish things.

Is it possible she thought they were friends? Tired of these kind of stories.
-
Oh no, we can't assume that, then where will all the outrage go? It's just another opportunity to make a meal of a technical glitch that assigned the same seat to 2 passengers. Happens everyday on many flights. Just because it's a gay couple, let's all be outraged. 5 min of fame.
-
they told the flight attendant they were romantic partners...it cannot be any more clear than that you homophobe
-
Did they tell her that AFTER she asked them to move? Airlines ask individuals to move all the time. Perhaps we should all wear placards pointing to our mates/s.
-
she asked them to move under the assumption that they were either strangers or friends so the straight couple could sit together. when they clarified that they were partners, she still insisted one of them move...what about this is unclear?
-
Was one of them ill? Scared to fly? Why assume it’s discrimination? If ‘none of the above’ the straight couple should’ve sat separately. If there was another issue the article should’ve stated it and the same sex couple shouldn’t have complained. Details matter. So does courtesy.
-
because there was no other issue other than the straight couple wanted to sit together. that's it.

Why do I feel like this is like one of those no tip receipts the disgruntled waiter writes racist remarks on to cash in? It's a he said/he said situation.
