Humans almost saved the planet from climate change 30 years ago. This is the story of how we failed: a tragedy in 2 acts.https://nyti.ms/2LWBJuA

Elite pundits often pin the blame for climate change on "human nature" or a collective "we"of all humans. This lets fossil fuel companies, their disinformation campaigns, & market deregulation off the hook. It also ignores the resistance of Indigenous and Global South communities

Now lets see a story in how American media was complicit, by supporting endless war, oil companies, and acting in support of neoliberal politicians whose whole ideology is based on international plunder.

Real reason is that social media went mainstream and now everyone has to share their expert opinion and no one can agree on how to do science anymore.

We are not going to destroy the planet. It would do just fine without us. We are destroying only habitable space we can live among the stars.

Part of that tragedy was the Supreme Court electing GW Bush over Al Gore. Where would we be now with all things WORLD had he been our president?

100% effort. What a joke. 😂😂 Ever hear of fracking as a bridge to clean energy? Fracking shot up under Obama’s watch and he opened US oil to export markets. Turns out fracking warms the planet exponentially compared to co2 over a 100 year period. Obama didn’t do jack.

I think I’ve outlined that the phrase “Obama didn’t do jack” is inaccurate. I agree that fracking is a terrible strategy (at least for the environment). The 100% was in reference to actions take by US Presidents to stop climate change in last 30 years.

Obama was president during the largest oil production increase in US history. To use the term 100% to refer to his effort on doing anything substantial on climate change is a serious stretch.
