Has a woman ever got this in the history of mathematicians

Yes an Iranian woman did four years ago I think. Forgot her name though.
-
Her name was Maryam Mirzakhani! She passed away last year!
-
Another Iranian won this year.
-
Someone tweeted that he's Kurdish-Iranian. Is that right? Also how about the 24 year old German guy?
-
Well, I don’t know about his ethnicity! But I know he has a British Iranian nationality!

From the story, it doesn't sound like the work any of these people are doing has any practical application for the real world.
-
I do hope that you don’t mean that.
-
There's some mention of meteorology but other than that, I have no idea.
-
Well me neither to be honest, but some of the things we use in daily life are based on mathematical developments from way back when the mathematicians often didn’t know what their future uses would be. I’m thinking of internet security/encryption.

Well done! It's just too bad the president and his administration don't believe in math and science.

Interesting point is one of them, Caucher Birkar, is Iranian and if he had his Iranian passport he wouldn't have been able to visit USA, thanks to Trump's travel ban.

I don't do math for awards. It's not about that. It's about the math.
