When the Trump administration announced a citizenship question would appear on the 2020 census, it was met with concern and skepticism. Now demographers say it could also generate the data necessary to redefine how political power is apportioned in Americahttps://nyti.ms/2LOGXJ5

Not all non citizens in the US are “illegal” genius. Non citizens with green cards have to wait 5 years before they’re even eligible to apply for citizenship.

Non citizens shouldn't be counted in the u.s. census.

The Constitution specifies "whole number of persons" not "whole number of citizens".

Ok well count em but non citizens counted in the census shouldn't effect the electoral votes or numbers of congressional seats in each state.

Take it up with the founding fathers. had they wanted only citizens to count towards representation they would have written it as such.

But they WERE counting on representing non-voters: slaves. I can’t remember how slaves were counted regarding citizenship in the Constitution. Some fraction? That’s how the electoral college arrived.

Question about #Immigration on #2020Census reminds me of an old #Irish expression. After a baby is born it was asked, "Is it a boy or a child?" Question on #2020Census may as well be, "Are you a #human or an #Immigrant?" #refugeeswelcome

Yes, if carried out fairly and without any prejudice. This could be used as a weapon also to target certain communities or races if it goes into wrong hands, with dire consequences. Insanity has a sane side too.

Terrible that we want to know how many citizens are here. Also terrible we want to know how many are here against federal law. Unthinkable

Back in those days for millions of non-citizens to be in your country you would have had to fought a war with another nation and lost it, as that nation starts sending millions of their own into your country to change the demographics. Nowadays we just hold the door open for them

Back in those days there were only about 2.5 million persons in the United States in total. That argument is problematic to say the least. We also didn't have CBP or ICE.

Yeah I'm talking about how all nations functioned and the perspective they were coming from. They didn't need anything like ICE because people weren't flooding a nation by the millions, if they were back then they'd likely have just lined up and shot them all daily.

A large portion of the generation/population "insights" industry is already a propaganda campaign for manipulating public opinion and dividing us as millennials, booms, etc. More divisions, more corp. profits, higher chance of Trump 2.0. http://postmillennial.org/the-origin-of-the-millennial-label-and-why-mainstream-media-fails-to-point-it-out/ …
