Im gay. I would sacrifice a seat to somebody who wishes to seat with the love of his or her life. Nothing wrong with that. But then, if you want to create an issue out of it, then theres a problem somewhere.

What if you were already sitting next to the love of YOUR life?

What's with the forcing people out of their seats? Why does one person or couple have priority over another?

I read the apology from the airlines and they said that simply it was a mistake in booking and sit assignments. So it wasn’t a bias, just the application of a booking. I’m quite sure that would have happened between 2 “straight” couples as well. But you need to misuse that.
-
What would have happened between 2 "straight" couples? One would have been separated so the other could sit together? Where's the net value in that? You still have a separated couple. It doesn't exactly support the policy of keeping couples together, does it?
-
Of course. I’m just saying that in case both couples were “straight”, that news would have been reported in an other way like, more like a complain to an airlines than an abuse in gender bias. Or maybe it wouldn’t have been reported at all. At least by NYT
-
No. It wouldn't have happened at all, because there'd be no net gain. It happened in this case because one couple's relationship was valued more than the other. That *should* be reported as improper bias.
-
What is the net gain in dividing two guys who want to travel close to each other? I don’t understand. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a mind oriented to distinguish between “straight” couples and “gay” ones. But you do instead as unfortunately most of the people.
-
I'm obviously not making myself clear. It was bias. It would not have happened to a straight couple. Hence, the distinction between gay couples and straight couples. Get it?
-
You made yourself perfectly clear. Indeed it’s you thinking that would have not happened to a straight couple, because you think that each unpleasant act to a gay person is done because he/she is gay. But that’s not true. Shit happens, if you’re gay or not.

Late apologies as always. Just violate people’s rights, specially minorities and then give a simple excuse and nice apology. Fascism 101 in the 21st.

Here is how you handle this. The straight couple purchased tickets that were not together. Guess what, they get seats that are not together. Pretty much how it will work.

I would steal this image, but I feel like the hippo would judge me quite harshly.

I want to know why she got so hostile. The couple bought tickets that were not together they do not deserve to sit together.

Methinks Alaska Airlines staff needs MORE training. They would have had to “drag” me off the plane before I would have given up my seat!

What went wrong is not asking someone to give up his seat, but insisting on it. Even if the men had not been a couple, that would be wrong.
