In an effort to turn away from opioids, doctors are prescribing an injectable drug called Depo-Medrol. What they don't know is that Pfizer, faced with hundreds of complaints, asked the FDA to ban that type of treatment 5 years ago.https://nyti.ms/2KbDW0l

They are leaving patients with only 3 days of pain meds after surgery here in Michigan. It's a disaster. And our overdoses have not improved.

Thx, @nytimes, but why ask @andrewkolodny, an addictionologist/anti-opioid nut job w/ no expertise treating pain? He’s expert in conflating #PainPatients w/ addicts, pushing suboxone on them, & turning #opioid into a 4 letter word. Oh, & creating a crisis, it’s good for business!

It's like the whole system is just working toward making buying heroin look more appealing than getting pain treatment from a doctor.

Unethical for any doc to require spinal injections as a condition of receiving non-invasive pain medications to responsible chronic pain patients. Continuing to lump these patients with problems of addiction & abuse does both responsible docs & patients a great disservice.

People should just turn to Cannabis. It's not lethal, it's not addictive, it doesn't give you lasting hangovers, and it eases pain/suffering. There is no need to turn to anything stronger.

Steroids can cause Cushing's Disease/Syndrome. All medications have side effects. You take a chance on everything you put into your body. Doctors are Practicing medicine. Politicians need to get out of medicine.pic.twitter.com/plFOZ5SfTr

Not mentioned is the lack of evidence that epidural steroid injections are effective in chronic back pain—they are not more effective than placebo. Pain Management Injection Therapy http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0073206/ … (Accessed on March 10, 2016).
