The proposed $100 billion bullet train to connect LA to San Francisco is the most ambitious public transportation project in the country, and it has already started development. The question that remains is: Will it ever be completed?https://nyti.ms/2AuGk2C

California has no water and refuses to build dams or desalination plants, but we're building this monstrosity. Ridiculous!

It if is anything like the high speed line between London and Birmingham then they will spend most of that money before a single thing has been built.

A successful high speed rail would disrupt air travel- people would prefer the train like in Europe-take cars off the road, less gas usage.

Air travel is dirt cheap in Europe. Apparently carless folks in England who need to get somewhere in the same country will fly there with a layover in another country because it's cheaper than the train.

Precisely what high speed rail does: creates healthy competition driving down prices.

You can't possibly be suggesting we spend $100 billion on a train so airline will lower their fares 🤔🤔

It’s money well spent, it’s already creating jobs, improving infrastructure and will reduce traffic on the roads.

Funny when it was in Florida it was only $5.5 billion. Move it to California and it goes to $100 billion. Wonder what the costs per mile comparisons in the 2 states?
