No, just really big teeth and claws. If you were attacked by a bear, you would probably appreciate someone shooting it for you. A friend of mine was killed by a bear recently while she was doing field work, I wish someone had been there with a gun, like there was in this case.

Ok, let's all just stay in big cities and never go anywhere that a bear could possibly be. That sounds like fun! Altho, I live on outskirts of a city, and have bears walking through my yard.

Self defense is totally called for. nevertheless this people should take responsability for geting in that situation and risking people's lífe.

A wild polar bear acting in its natural habitat is not ‘wild’ - sleep well big boy, most of us see it 😓

Maybe, just maybe, we should stop venturing into the natural habitats of these rare, endangered animals & then cry self-defence when they act true to their nature. We have already done enough damage.

They brought tourists into the habitat of this bear for making money. They willingly risked the life of people and this bear and the animal paid the ultimate price. Profit over animal welfare. Shame on them!!!!

You know life for these creatures are so tough there.. They search food to maintain there energy and feed Cubs... And you people go, go close and want to look into their eyes... Huh! And later when you realize the bear is hungry and wild.. Your so called self defence comes out.

Stop the intrusive tours. That’s what binoculars are for. Wildlife is already struggling for survival- climate change, lose of food sources, poachers and the trump administration’s removal of protection to endangered species to make fossil industry $$$$$

Gross incompetence and complete lack of awareness for the safety of wildlife and passengers. Regret won't bring back that polar bear.

Maybe it's time for the cruise line to reconsider expeditions off the ship in these sensitive areas. Bear itself looks possbily underweight. Given their precarious existence & being under serious threat as a species, it's better to leave them alone rather than risk bear or human
