Harvard says it does not discriminate. But its policies are being challenged by Asian-Americans who say they’ve been unfairly rejected.https://nyti.ms/2LQW8kK

Top universities across the nation discriminate against Asians, Americans of Asian descent, and one other much smaller American minority known for excelling at school. Everyone must be welcome at universities, but they should get in on merit.

I guess deserve is a subjective term but it’s hard to understand how someone deserves to be admitted just bc daddy went to Harvard and has thrown some $ at the school. Especially over someone who has higher grades, test scores, more extra curricular activities, etc.

This is fair, but it’s probably a small percentage of people with that kind of wealth I would suspect

While who gets admitted to prestigious colleges on wealth is a hot button topic ... it's as Craig said. Those admitted 'solely' based on family wealth are probably a very small percentage.

Also: Throwing a new building at a university is not nothing. Bio-med, and engineering buildings don't just build themselves. Consider the 1000s of students who will be educated in those facilities over the years.

Thanks to Edward Blum & Students For Fair Admissions the world finally knows how @Harvard is using its taxpayer funding to subsidize it’s racist and corrupt admissions policy.

I hope the lawsuit goes through and racial preferences are eliminated from all school admission decisions. Merit should be the determining factor if we want our schools to remain best in the world!

All the elite universities ethnically skew admissions—otherwise they’d all be majority Asian.

In order to protect its valuable reputation Harvard must come clean on it. Of course, a university like Harvard will not stoop so low as to discriminate on color and racial basis, but rumors can become Fake News, and lead to the consequent damage.

I agree. Of course they admit many wealthy students especially legacy students, which compromises 1/3 of admissions and is frankly unfair imo. Everyone should be selected based on their own merit rather than who their parents are.

Not much surprising in this article. EVERYONE who applies has high grades & test scores. Admissions looking for candidates with potential 2B GREAT IN ONE AREA to bring recognition & $ back 2school in future. Endowment growth! Goal of every top college. Harvard has done it best!

So Harvard is discriminating. Funny considering ALL of these Ivy League schools were built off of the slave trade. And most know and understand that Ivy League schools were built by slave masters for their dumb children.
