To the casual observer, it may appear that Britain is completely unprepared to deal with longs spells of scorching-hot weather. The casual observer would not be far off.https://nyti.ms/2OpY5TE

Ah, feel sorry for the London folk. We’re really enjoying it in the Black Country... but we’ve got better beer to quench our thirst #blackcountry #HeatWave2018

It's raining now so we'll probably have flood warnings soon. That said I feel so lucky to live in this beautiful country, we don't get everything right but we don't get it really wrong either (apart from Brexit but hopefully we'll sort that out too).

Being honest. Britain cannot deal with long spells of any form of extreme weather.

When it's hot we complain a lot and eat icecream. You run hundreds of millions of fossil fuel guzzling air con units and make it hotter for the entire planet. If someone's going to be snide about how other countries deal with the heat I don't think it should be the US.

UK far better prepared for hurricane season than US, even though our responsibilities are 1,000s of miles away. Naval vessels on standby in the area before BV Islands hit last year ~ aid available immediately. US did zero for Puerto Rico for days ~ it's still in a dire state.

Back to normal today - a typicality British summers day - 60F, pouring with rain from grey skies and blowing a gale. Much better!

you should be here when it snows, a bit windy, rains heavy. We are brilliantly equipped for light drizzle though

It's not wrong, it's just a bit out of date - every lawn in London has already been dead for a fortnight, and the heatwave broke on Friday with a lovely downpour.
