I bartended next to a retirement place and I can't tell you how many times childless seniors opened up about their regret. You grow old and no one is there to take care of you, no visitors, no grandkids to enjoy, all your friends are dead or with their families.

Plenty of seniors in homes whose grandkids or kids never go visit them. There are no guarantees.

Saw that a lot too. But no one ever told me they regretted having kids. In the end of your life, being alone doesn't bother you as much as knowing no one is left after you. You die and no one is left to remember you or even care that you're gone.

I'm not saying it is. I'm talking about the conversations I've had with childless seniors. Take that anyway you want.

It’s selfish not to have children, such people are wicked

There is nothing selfish about it. Much more selfish for an unequipped parent to bring a child into the world.

Which is 100% BS...all women are born with an instinct to mother. They definitely will feel some regret.

I agree Barbara - soaring child care costs. Lower wages for women. Little to no maternity leave or sick leave (because kids gets sick and so does mom) almost as if you’re punished for having children, especially if you’re a working mom. It’s a very difficult journey to balance.

We got little gifts from our boss for using no sick time. 99% of us were parents. I did have benefits, but used mostly annual time for maternity leave . Mums I worked with took just 3 weeks because they hadn’t collected enough time. Unbelievable for the richest country on earth

"Bad genes", like Queen Elizabeth I of England who never had kids, reigned 45 years & brought prosperity to England? Like Katherine Hepburn, Oprah Winfrey, Dame Helen Mirren, Dolly Parton, Condoleeza Rice, Betty White, Lily Tomlin, Liza Minnelli, Jennifer Aniston & Diane Sawyer?

Man plans God laughs. Stop judging women just because they didn’t give birth. It’s often the most UNSELFISH thing a women can do.

I have 2 daughters now 28 and 31. I cannot imagine life without them. People that choose not to have children have no possible way to understand what children mean and what they have missed. It is an experience that MUST be lived in order for one to comprehend what it means.

I know people that didnt want kids but did anyway. They are not happy. Also some that wanted kids and they turned out to be terrible children. Go to a nursing home see for yourself. Parents abandoned because kids to busy or what ever the excuse for the day is.
