No, we’ll always associate truckers as white males 99% of the time with the occasional white female trucker. Stop trying to change our culture.

It wont matter in the near future what gender the trucker is if they're gonna be replace by long range automated transport vehicles(robot trucks).

I work in the industry and you are absolutely correct. Driverless trucks are already in beta testing. I give it 10 yrs before they are a normal sight on the road and 20 before human deivers are completely fazed out

Perhaps in poor, and poorer nations. There could still be human truckers, bus drivers, etc.

Reporter failed to question industry sources re 2 vital issues: (1 Pay sucks. It SEEMS to work out to $20 an hour but drivers work many unpaid hours. (2) Working conditions are horrible, destructive to family, home, social life. Why doesn't the industry fix that? ($$$ that's why)

Want to relieve the shortage? Pay more. Who wants to go through all of the stuff truckers endure for $42k a year? Next?

The shortage is due to the trucker lifestyle-long hours on the road away from family, bad diet, smoking, drugs in some cases, lack of mental stimulation-the pay is better now but with a decent economy & more choices, not an attraction for long term unless you want to die young.
