Even in counties that voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, there are small pockets that went the other way. Explore our detailed map:https://nyti.ms/2AbPIYZ

important. Blue is usually more high density areas in nation, not just coastal, and Red is in less dense areas. I bet most conflicts between Reps. & Dems is the differing needs in each location: make laws have leeway for different needs.

Tricky because many of those areas in Oklahoma, are also de-populated. The Blue cities in Oklahoma are also the most populous. Norman is the 3rd largest city in the state.

I find the map highly misleading. That type of graphic shows GOP support without weighting by the population. So a square mile with 500k Democrats in a productive urban city is visually compared by the reader with a single cranky GOP social security recipient in a rural area

This level of granularity makes more sense for a thumbnail. The default view of the overall map, depicting a non-existent sea of red, is doing more harm than good with its false picture of voting populations. Please consider changing it @nytimes

This is another map that ignores population density and misleadingly gives the impression of masses of R voters where there are actually very few people. One would never know from this map that there were more D voters.https://twitter.com/jeffnorm/status/920237034597384192?s=21 …
