That image of him freaks me out. He looks a lot like my late father—who was also athletic, well-educated, & charismatic. And women swooned over him when he was young. However, he did not come from a wealthy family. (Alas.) And he preferred football to any other sport. 🏈

Thats not a true image, i don’t know why they specifically mentioned “sex symbol”. He is a star, he made 3 hospitals for cancer patients, he made university for students of western standard. He has donated 22yrs of his life struggling for a better and prosperous country.

I meant it as a compliment. Didn’t mean to denigrate him or my late father—who was married to my late mom for 55 yrs; had 7 kids; many grand-/great-grandkids. A devout Catholic; scientist; linguist; teacher; & community fundraiser. Loved by thousands. They just look alike. ;-)

I agree that the NYT’s headline and lede are terribly misdirected. If you’ve never heard of this man, you immediately get the wrong impression of him. However, their article describes his life well, IMHO.

It is tragic that a newspaper we look upto for credibility is engaged in gutter propaganda

This is the same newspaper that cheered overthrow of democratically elected Chavez and Mossadegh. Western newspapers dislike third world leaders who follow their own path (vs. imposed by the West). Also, Imran Khan is anti-US drones.

I did my own research on Google after seeing this image. Mr. Khan has led a fascinating life. His altruistic, philanthropic, godly deeds are why he is so loved, I’m sure. I’m also sure the NYT article began w/info on his yrs as an athlete & sex symbol to draw-in American readers.

Absolutely, Khan gave up on that luxurious life. The real test / fight starts from now on, which based on his previous debates, statements and Efforts. Lets hope for the best.
