Have you talk to Byxby? This is ridiculous. Manufacturers can choose any OS. No one is forced to install Android. Why EU don't find MS to deliver IE in every Windows? Because it's silly.
-
They already did a long time ago. Windows had a popup to ask you which browser you wanted. It's no longer there though.
-
I just got Samsung S9 and all pre-installed apps all Samsung. The phone calls with an extra button to talk to Byxby and can't be used to anything else. Byxby us the dumbest voice assistant in the market.
-
Bixby remapper can change the button to do anything you want, including launch Google Assistant.
-
Samsung, according to ByxbyRemapper makers, keeps updating the OS to make the remapper fails. I tried two weeks ago and it was not working. I'll appreciate if you can recommend a working app for that purpose.
-
It's working fine for me on an S8
-
Lol, obviously S9 is improved.

Other parts of the world need to do the same... it's tech abuse

Why not doing that same with Apple, their iPhones also have preinstaled apps that favour their controls over their devices. Google Android is a free system, I can even send off their original apps. Is there any preference with Apple?

Google puts up the $ for the research and devopement for the technology. Phone manufacturers want Android. Google reaches an agreement with their customers. The EU wants to penalize Google for all it's hard work and business sense. Google shouldn't pay. Make it the EU's problem.
-
They broke the law.
-
Then the law should be changed. You don't have to buy an android and phone manufacturers don't have to install it.
-
These laws are here to protect consumers from monopolies and companies from unfair competition. So no, we got no plan to change that law.
-
What's stopping anyone from developing their own OS and selling it to phone manufacturers? Isn't that the spirit of competition? Not holding back someone that is good at what they do but promoting the spirit of competition for someone to do better.
-
Besides, no one is forced to use the google apps mandatorily installed on Androids. You can use the stock apps or download others. So how is it a monopoly? Sounds to me more like advertising. They've effectively signed an ad agreement with phone manufacturers.
