In one video, a woman at a youth soccer game violently kicks a ball that slams into a teenage referee. In another clip, parents at a youth basketball game hurl punches at the referee.https://nyti.ms/2zRajBO

Nothing new over the past 15 years, at least. Parents ruin youth-sports.

I’ve coached youth sports for years. A parent got violentl once. Once. Point is, keep it in check and if an example needs to be made, make it. You’ll notice a difference at future events.

years ago I coached kids intramural soccer and did some refereeing; I love futebol and the kids — hate the parents. Smug, insolent and nasty. I quit in disgust. Kids and some parents were upset. Never do it again. I live adjacent a school soccer field and hear the same arrogance

I had to learn to see sports again when my children started playing football. You must avoid those behaviors to enjoy the game and that they learn to win or lose. #EnjoyTheGame

After a game last month, Barlow and two other referees needed an armed police escort to their cars. Last month, his daughter, Zoe, had to stay inside a building for 90 minutes after a game at the urging of tournament officials. Yet Barlow is the one who’s gone too far?
