This trade deal has been a long time coming. It isn’t a consequence of the ongoing trade conflicts. Most trade deals take years to draft and implement. They aren’t drawn up on a whim or as backlash.

True, but it got a boost from Trump pulling out of TPP. Japan was preoccupied with TPP for years. The shift from TPP to "New"-TPP cut many US specific regulations out of the equation. Plus, suddenly EU was the closest available heavy weight in the FT landscape. Lots of momentum

EU Japan has been a work in process for a long time just as was EU Canada. The EU has been diligently working on bilateral agreements long before Trump came into the picture. And will continue long after he is ejected from it.

And the likes of Harley/Davidson can move to Europe and have free trade across the eurozone and Japan.

Before Trumps trade war the average tariffs between EU and US were 3% http://ec.europa.eu/trade/policy/countries-and-regions/countries/united-states/ …
-
And what are they now? Ours against them were half that. We want true free trade what is wrong with that?

Looks like Trump has thrown the USA under the bus in more ways than one... what a mess he is making.. and we all know he will blame the media and others.. typical child behavior...

Higher tariffs make US Steel cheaper. Cheaper US Steel increases demand. Demand increases production. Increased production requires more workers. Thus jobs being created. Thoughts?
