A pregnant woman woke up at 4:30 a.m., screaming in pain. Her hospital was nearly 100 miles away. It took her nearly 4 hours to get there.https://nyti.ms/2NoEYIr

Many yrs ago, i volunteered full-time for a yr in a hosp in Malaysia + worked w/ many indigenous women. I was 19, naive, & stunned that these women were often deep in rural villages hrs away from the nearest hosp. (The conditions are better now) 1/2

We need to appreciate that leaving for care was not always feasible (e.g., has others kids). Two diff countries but the issues faced by these women are the same. Some of these children and women die; my 19yo self worked w/ some of them. We can surely do better. We must. 2/2

They shouldn't be having babies if they can barely pay electric bills and rent. Birth control and abstinence instead of ignorance...

@MayoClinicKids operates an emergency @teleneonatology program that has helped hundreds of newborns over the past several years. This service is life-saving for babies and life-changing for families, especially those who live in #ruralcommunities.

I mean they lived there when there was still an active hospital, then it was shut down. Doesnt seems like poor planning to me, more like no one giving a damn about said hospital and people living there 💁‍♀️

what speculation dude? the hospital that was there for more than 20 years? how could anyone think that a hospital would close after being functioning and operating for more than 20 years with no issue? i mean...how is that poor planing on the parents part?

the difference is that you are a deluded dude that think that can foresee everything, anything can happen at any given time, it's not these people fault that their hospital was shut down. 👌

Everyone in this country should have access to healthcare, no two ways about it. But no one is pointing out that this 21-year already has a two year old and now twins, making $8.50 an hour. I would like to see some personal responsibility as well.
