Kela Abernathy and her mother raced down dark country roads at 90 miles an hour. All they could think about were the twins. Would she have to deliver them on the side of the road? Would the babies be OK?https://nyti.ms/2uv7ssV

Fewer foreign doctors choosing to immigrate to the United States could spell disaster for the rural physician shortage, especially given that foreign docs are more likely to work in underserved areas. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Never, ever speed because the baby's coming. 4 lives were risked by those actions. Call 911 and they will talk you through it while help is on the way.

I cant, its behind a paywall. I got to the entrance where she was 2 months early then the "you have reached your limit" popped up.

I mean this in the kindest way, but if you can't read the story, probably best not to comment. I agree speeding sounds like a bad idea, but this woman and this town/area have no hospital or resources anywhere nearby. We are privileged.

Then she should have made a plan in case of emergency. If @nytimes is adding a Twitter share link to an article it should not be behind a paywall. Twitter is a free platform and should be free from censorship like this.

Oops, misread your comment so I'm giving a different answer - I'd rather complain than figure out how to read a clickbait article, it's what women do best!

You guys should make this along with the black women infant mortality article an ongoing series of the state of healthcare reflected by middle/lower class pregnant women..

Well yes, but we can't build trauma 1 hospitals everywhere. I live less than a quarter mile from a great hospital. That was deliberate. Both urban and rural living have disadvantages. We all need more available healthcare.
