        The novel that terrified me in my teenage years was "Salem's Lot" by Stephen King. The thought of living in a small town and having a stranger move in as people start to disappear still creeps me out and keeps me from moving to any small community.

        What's fascinating is how a few of these authors don't know better than to reveal some pretty key details about these stories, as if to say, "Here is a story I really enjoyed. Now allow me to deprive you of the capacity to enjoy it as I first did." Authors are assholes sometimes.

        That can't possibly be true. One of the authors I'm familiar with actually spoiled the book he was writing the damn *introduction* for. He just doesn't have the wisdom or self-restraint to know what he's doing.
