One of the more remarkable features of the linked article is its utter superficiality. It is silent on the damage commonly carried out by extremists, like the alt-right, that no progressive even threatens. The Reichstag Fire comes to mind, but not the Times' mind....

If you consider @SenSanders far left in this instance, your grossly wrong. Antifa on the other hand, is very counter productive.

It's actually far more fortunate for most of us that so-called "Far-Right Nationalists" aren't imitating "Far-Left Agitators" like Antifa.

The 'Nazis' were defeated in 1945. The term as it's used now is just a term of abuse employed by the Left against anyone who opposes their worldview and is not to be taken seriously.

      5. Anita Chiquita‏ @tiddleypom Jul 15
        Replying to @John1_Welsh @lisastoi @nytimes

The term refers to the systematic denigration of various groups; playing on populace suspicion of minorities, it seeks to anchor outrageous bad deeds to those groups. Jewish=greedy (1938) Mexican=rapists. Muslim=terrorist. (2018). Other similarities exist too.

The term is deliberate hyperbole and is intended to smear and call up images of real Nazis, like the German SA "Brownshirts". The irony is however that those employing Brownshirt tactics are leftists like Antifa, who then have the brass neck to label others Nazis..

Many still believe it's hyperbole. But dig a little deeper and you find the similarities. It's no use keeping quiet until the Third Reich equivalent is legally in place, John. So #resist
