Can someone tell me why we didn’t have to remove anything at O’Hare airport? We were told to leave all shoes on, all laptops & liquid medication inside bags. Line was moving!!
There were dogs sniffing everyone so that might have been it? #itwasawesome -
To minimize backlash for long lines, TSA will often change the rules at peak times. When they use the metal detectors only (as should be standard always) you keep everything on.

The screening lines would work quicker if airlines in the USA had reasonable carry on rules. In Australia it is one bag of no more than 7kg.
