When you sign up for hospice you agree to not seek any life extending medical care...However in this case the family should have pulled her out of hospice and took her to the ER. Had she recovered she could reapply for hospice

A large part of hospice care is making sure the patient is as comfortable as possible. Having an oxygen tank to breath is part of that. Gasping for air in your last moments is a very uncomfortable way to die, don’t you think?

Something is terribly wrong in a country where a black woman dies in this manner yet Kyrie Jenner creates a GoFundMe page to raise $100M, so she can join the billionaire club. Just so pathetic the inequities.

Thought this was illegal?? Known some people with high debt to PG&E & was told they wouldn't shut off their power cause of medical issues.

That's part of the disagreement, the power company said they had no record of anyone telling them she required an oxygen compressor. The family said the portable tanks didn't work but they should work as good as the compressor, I would guess the 90+ heat was what killed her.

Where was hospice during all of this? They could have assisted, or even placed her in an inpatient facility or the hospital for symptom management! Did they even call hospice?

That's the thing. If she was on hospice since April, they should have known the options. I'm a hospice case manager and I go over options regularly. Especially if I see the potential for problems. It is mandatory for hospice to tell them All of the services available to them.

This is a shame but raises some questions about her family's commitment to her safety. Such as - no phone to call for help, or if she was too immobile to call for help then why was she alone, was no one responsible for seeing her bill were paid - serious questions abt family?
