@nytimes Have you ever read Nextdoor posts? it’s good intentioned, but like 80% dumpster fire, and the worst part is, it’s literally people within a 5 block radius. You’d think the transparency would help, but nope, people don’t care and post with wild abandon.

I wanted this to be a kind of Neighborhood Watch, ask questions, find lost dogs, report suspicious characters. It became a screamer forum, full of uninformed rants on both sides. I deleted it.

I had to quit Nextdoor after realizing how many racist neighbors I had. I got sucked back in, but no longer tolerate nonsense, blocking the racists as soon as I see them. Using it for selling and buying stuff is all

I have seen more emboldened out, racist behavior on NextDoor than I have seen on any other main stream social network. ND is the worst of the internet.

When I start seeing my neighbors post their Trump loving nasty politics on Nextdoor, I will delete the app. A yard sign is enough.

Nextdoor still has an issue with its users profiling people of color in their own neighborhoods. Maybe they need to focus on that.

This is like Geriatric Congressmen trying to understand FB. Let me try:
@Nextdoor is the place your crazy old neighbors shout into the neighborsphere not to put your carefully wrapped dog droppings in *their* trashcan. It's Possums and shotguns, but w bad drivers in between. -
It's people who shouted "Use NextDoor to communicate" at the contentious city council meeting when city was being sleazy and then became "Leads" who ban neighbors for mentioning politics on site. It's reading "I DON'T HAVE TO REMOVE MYSELF FROM ANYTHING, *YOU* SIGNED ME UP".
-
It's neighbors suspecting everybody they don't recognize, watching and posting every little move they make, in case they're "up to no good". It's bunnies and skid marks and those pesky kids, all in one thread. It's election signs, tortoise torture, and fuzzy video.
-
It's where the neighbor live-posting a thread about unknown dark kids as they slowly drove behind them and described each turn..until they had to go to work. When someone says "That's how Treyvon Martin died" they roil with indignation and warn you about 'upsetting' neighbors.

Interesting site. Want to see something *really* interesting?
@bestofnextdoor is worth a follow.

No. Nextdoor is already a shit show with angry neighbors complaining about dogs, loud music, and kids on their lawns. It will be 100 times worse with politics injected
