@nytdavidbrooks@nytopinion@nytimes Brooks admits that biggest drop in Black poverty, by far, was in 1960 to 1975, when government waged War on Poverty. Then poverty soared when the Right cuts programs. So of course Brooks equally faults both Left and Right. Vintage Brooks.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@nytdavidbrooks@nytopinion@nytimes So Brooks claims that African Americans face massive discrimination and too-frequent poverty became they voluntarily choose not to follow “bourgeois norms”? If that’s not blaming the victims, I don’t know what is.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

It wasn’t quite- obama was very vocal in the destruction
-
Would that be when Obama was still a Senator, and racists (who didn't think a non-White person was ever "meant to be" POTUS) began hurling insults at his "otherness" (i.e., being "an Arab", a "Muslim", "a Black who didn't belong in the "White" house") and other racist sentiments?
-
Surely you remember when McCain had to correct a woman who said she couldn't trust Obama because "he's an Arab"? Racism against Obama began early on as it concerns his candidacy, election and presidency, but many of his haters like to overlook when/why their hatred of him began.

Hey David. White lady here. It isn't the black community's job to stop racism. It's a white people problem. If you arent using your platform to scream that from the rooftop you aren't adding to the conversation.

David Brooks always writes as if he has just come out of a coma. Racial progress is dying a “quiet death”? Ask the families of the unarmed black men shot by police if it has all been quiet.

Do yourself a favor and read this zucchini recipe instead. It’s far more substantive and self-aware...https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1017725851595628544?s=21 …
