In 1987, “Baby Jessica” was trapped in a well for 58 and a half hours. So what did she think of the Thai cave rescue? "I didn’t know about it at all."https://nyti.ms/2uhIFse

Trapped in a well - Trapped in a cave. Although I can understand how she wouldn't know if she chose to avoid the news. After having that kind of experience I don't blame someone for avoiding more depressing things!

To demonstrate the basic lack of interest in current events and awareness of things in the world that many Americans have today. If she doesn't even follow a story that was relevant to her own life experience, what else would she be missing?

The point is, she's indicative of the average American who's clueless about current events in the world. When you say the "rest of us," about half the country voted for our current president and about half didn't. Guess those of us who aren't clueless couldn't save the others

Sure. But to imply that she should be paying attention just because she was in a well once is moronic. As far as following news she shouldn’t be held under any expectations different from anyone else who WASN’T stuck in a well 30 years ago.

We tend to focus our attn on things most relevant to us. So, if she's not focusing on other people who were trapped In worldwide newsworthy event (like she was & few others have been) what else is she missing? Subtle but impt. point. The Chilean miners were watching. Hmm.

No matter who she is I can’t believe she hadn’t heard anything about it. I would hope in that case she doesn’t have a tv/phone/radio because with all the publicity that they got that would be the only way not to hear a thing about it.
