To help the Thai soccer team rescue, Elon Musk dreamed up a “kid-size” submarine to help. It turns out they didn’t need it.https://nyti.ms/2ucwxc0

Regardless of whether it was used this time or not....holy shit! That's some fast engineering and construction. Image what it will be able to do when they have more time to perfect it. What if they could add some sort of sensor that recognized when someone was drowning

Plus: A voice like Nyt spreading mockery and cynicism only encourage potential helpers to not help (just in case help not needed nyt will publicly shame you) and encourage cynical behavior ( if nyt mocks Elon Musk I can do it too... let’s retweet this!!!) . so saddened by nyt

Haha how is some dude sitting in their chair, doing absolutely nothing to help, criticizing someone who spent time to try something?! Cannot believe how many people love taking cheap shots at Musk. It didn’t work, oh well, he tried something

what do u expect? this is is the kind of arm-chair quarterbacking one can expect from emaciated geeks who lack life experience & spend their day trading gossip & rumor about other people "doing stuff." the world would do well to re-introduce stigma against loose lipped geeks.

Don't discount the fact that it wasn't used. Celebrate the fact that we had people all over the globe working usable solutions in record time. And, it can be used in the future, should need arise. He stepped up, as did others. That's a good thing. We need more people like this.

Agree. Good job @elonmusk we thank you for being inspired and compelled to action. It would be so nice if more people would be so inspired and compelled. It was moving to see pictures of the kid sized submarine.

Let me rewrite that for you: "Elon @elonmusk , a world class engineer, and his team, made a huge effort to build a mini sub in one day to help rescue the boys. Elon loves nothing more than an engineering challenge, except his own boys, who are the same age as the team..." See?

He built it specifically for these kids and this issue. He did more than most to help, used or not. This has gained national attention, yes, but @elonmusk is always blasted in the media for some reason or another. He seems a standup guy and i'd like to shake his hand some day.

I think that what really counts is his good intentions and creativity aimed to help those in desperation. Maybe in future rescue events people will remember of his good plans for this time. I'd like to congratulate him, anyway.
