It's a political message. The Democrats are using it to push division between earth lovers (Democrats) and the supposed earth haters(Republicans). Do you think it's really about straws and animals?

Yes it really is. It’s about billions of pieces of plastic shit in the oceans and when the food chain collapses nobody is going to care about stupid ideology.

They don't pay the little fish... How do you think you know about straws in the first place? It's crazy to watch how they control the masses to make this important one day and that all of a sudden important the next day. #wakeup #walkaway

Sorry to see you completely leave out the impact of straw-bans on the disabled. While I appreciate the attempts to reduce the use of plastic and work to avoid it in my own life, our "fixes" for common problems sometimes create new problems. Please look into this aspect.

Paper straws don’t bend and still function well. I hadn’t thought about this aspect. Thanks @kkoth

I hadn’t either. I’d been a big fan of the straw ban until I happened upon a thread yesterday written by someone affected by it. Opened my eyes.

What else am I supposed to think when disabled people repeatedly say how a straw ban would be bad for them, and people continue to cheer bans on? People care about turtles more than disabled people.

There is always the option to buy a reusable, washable rvs straw. These are already bent if you want. Carry your own and there is no need for plastic straws...

That’s certainly a great option for those who like straws, but don’t need them. If you forget it, you’ll be fine. For those who can’t drink without them it’s an added burden. If it’s forgotten, they have no options.

An added burden??? How? They don't weigh anything and you just carry them in your bag. If even, they are more convenient, you have one available at all times. Let's say you want to buy some soda at the supermarket, no straws there, but you have your own 🙂
