It's a small start. What about plastic lids? Plastic utensils? Plastic wrap or clam shells on every food item? Look inside and outside Starbucks - it's everywhere!

A simpler (and rather obvious) idea, sell custom mugs for a reasonable price (not that $20 stuff they have in the stores), you don't bring in your own mug, they charge you 25 cents for the cup. Your welcome, Planet Earth.🌎

Hell, even put unique codes on the mug. Tada! Instant customer profile of what people like to drink.

A lot of us with disabilities rely on straws. While I like that we’re moving away from plastic, this really sucks.

Would a paper straw serve the same purpose? I've seen some nice ones made of metal, but you'd need to carry that with you.

That would be my suggestion: carry your own. People routinely fill their own sippy-cups for kids who can’t drink from a regular cup. I keep hard plastic, reusable straws on hand.

Yay more things that aren’t accessible and make us “different”. Now we’re placing stigma on straws. If you’re going to ask those of us with disabilities to carry our own personal straws, why not make everyone carry their own personal cups. 😕

If Starbucks provided paper straws you wouldn't need to bring your own (I realize that would be a pain).

The problem with paper straws is that we need them to bend and hold up to all temperatures. I have yet to find a paper straw that does that. Metal straws don’t work well either.

Why are we waiting until 2020 to make any real changes in this world? Time is money. Money is power. Power is pizza. Pizza is knowledge, let’s go!

They already make biodegradable straws out of plant based materials that look and feel like plastic

That’s good. I was worried we’d be limited to old timey paper straws.

What do they want, a medal? These corporations will need to do a lot more than this to save the planet from drowning in plastic.
