In Opinion, “President Trump’s contention, that women need access to formula because of malnutrition, defies both science and common sense: the overwhelming balance of evidence tells us that breast milk is the most nutritious option for infants, by far.”https://nyti.ms/2u7ivZ6

But for those who can’t breastfeeds, providing organic, chemical free, clean formula is a necessity with guaranteed access to purchase at a reasonable price for all mothers. 🤔

Women need access to formula because many women can't produce enough. Women need access to formula because some newborns have allergies or health issues or are unable to latch properly. Is there an issue with giving women access to formula?

The issue is that Trump threatened to destroy Ecuador because they opposed a view pushed by the makers of baby formula.

I agree. And the WHO didn’t state they were banning formula. It said the plan was to generate more aggressive information & marketing regarding the health benefits of breastfeeding. I just think Trump & his admin opposed this due to ties to corporations & big pharma.

Dear Lord...are you ppl for real??? Many moms don't or cannot breast feed. Many choose drugs or drinking over the child. Many children just don't take to it. Formula is VERY expensive. So, you take a good thing and make it "evil Trump" as usual. Ridiculous.

I live in dvp countries, all you Trump fans have no idea of the conditions and the practices of the vendors. They often sell subpar products with misleading advertising. Finally, in countries with limited clean drinking water, breastfeeding is Always better.

What are you talking about? Breast feeding is always best. No one, meaning NO ONE, said otherwise. This is why dems are so absurd...they argue over nothing. Natural is best, but when needed, which is often, getting formula to ppl is GOOD. Not bad, GOOD. What's the argument?

The problem with the Trump Administration is that they support companies who sell infant formula, it’s a huge industry that makes millions of dollars. If women nurse, they lose money. It’s literally swapping babies health for profit.

And they encourage women in developing nations with no access to clean water to mix formula instead of nursing. Lines the pockets of industry that supports Trump, doesn’t benefit mom or baby at all. This is bullying and neglect for profit.

The failing NY Times Fake News story today about breast feeding must be called out. The U.S. strongly supports breast feeding but we don’t believe women should be denied access to formula. Many women need this option because of malnutrition and poverty. -Pres Trump

No one is saying formula shouldn't be an option for those needing or choosing that option. All we want is proper health education and options based on science and fact, not based on lobbying and profit.

Why aren’t women involved in the decision making regarding women’s health? Shouldn’t women be 100% of the board making the decision rather than the majority being men?
