WeChat (monitoring by CCP) AI and facial tracking is more Orwellian than even 1984.

Amazing! Probably the first time in ages I've seen a totally neutral headline from NYTimes. And of course the subject is something sinister and totalitarian.

I’m just curious. Is the US looking at building a massive cyber attack and nuclear attack on China soon? I feel we need to keep them in check! We need to build that wall! Economic wall that is!!

Sounds much like the extreme surveillance in UK urban centers were doing, or the extreme and massive surveillance of the NSA. More and more government and companies knowledge of peoples communication and movements is common. What that might mean long term is hard to say.

I can imagine the day when shopping malls and retail stores use facial recognition to deny access to people who have been convicted of a violent or retail-related (e.g., shoplifting) crime.
