I like this idea better. I am probably in the minority to say that I don't like Airbnb or Uber. That idea goes against everything I've learned as a kid: don't go into a stranger's car or house. Maybe I'm distrusting of people, but I'm willing to pay more for my safety sanity.

Hotels are regulated, private residences can just not declare short term rentals and under resourced regulators may not notice. Why would you go with the unregulated one? I like smoke alarms and a guarantee there's no cameras in the showers
