Um... You realize prenups are not a millennial thing, right? You realize that? Like, we have such little wealth and access to wealth that a divorce is a catastrophic event, financially speaking, and we don't feel like starving because higher taxes for a safety net scare you.

I'm just horsing around. Just pissy because I've been with my partner 18 years & we gained marriage equality (looks like we're prob going to lose it again) and I still don't see the point of getting married since we're older. A ring and some presents would have been nice tho

Thanks. I'm 5damn8 y/o. Being a loudmouth curmudgeon isn't conducive to developing a lasting relationship. Until you meet someone who balances that out.

after what my exhusband did to me in the divorce, I would tell everyone to sign a prenup. Protect yourself! Also, instead of being married "forever", instead, have a commitmentceremony for a specific time period, then renegotiate the terms for the next time period,or walk away.

Got a lot of confidence in marriage kids? Why even bother getting married? It isn't a thing anymore.

Always and forever is a fairy tale. People grow, they change , and we don’t die in our 40s anymore. It’s reasonable to assume that most marriages won’t last more than 10 years. Why not prepare for reality rather than wish for fairytales?

Not to mention why put a spouse on the hook for your student loan debt by getting married? That's what they'll do to one another. Great if you have a sufficient income stream, disaster if you don't.

Legally they're not but loan co will file against you anyway and leave you and your attorney to fight through proving that first. They'll do it if they can get away with it. And they do. In a previous life I was a government student loan collector for a law firm. Ugly business.
