Pro-life, pro-child, but only if they are on formula. #GOP is terrified of breasts.

I can’t even. I totally understand that not every woman can (or have experienced trauma and choose not to) breastfeed, and am so thankful that formula exists for those women. But, what does the US think breasts are for? Science lies with breastmilk as option #1.
-
It’s a balance to encourage breastfeeding while not shaming those who don’t. At the end of the day, every woman must choose what’s right for her. (And I hated it.)
-
I totally agree. But, this has zero to do with shaming. On a worldwide scale- considering poverty- we should not be against a resolution encouraging breastfeeding. Countries lack the ability of clean water for formula. This is simply the USA folding to corporate greed.
-
Absolutely right. This isn’t about shaming at all. Get over the whole “but I couldn’t/wouldn’t/didn’t breastfeed” mantra. This is about formula companies controlling generations of moms worldwide by messing w/fertility rates & sickening babies when moms can’t access clean water.
-
One hundred percent. This is about Nestle and their unethical schemes to trick women in poorer countries and communities into using (aka buying) formula.

1. Sorry, NYT, this headline is way too polite. The U.S. didn't merely "upend deliberations" they threatened to withhold financial and military aid to any country that introduced the measure, so Russia stepped in and the U.S. backed down.
-
2. Plus - "The Americans also sought, unsuccessfully, to thwart a W.H.O. effort aimed at helping poor countries obtain access to lifesaving medicines." If Trump is willing to destroy our standing in the world over whether the WHO wants to promote breastfeeding, what's next?

I feel like I am in the twilight zone - where people are incapable of rational thought. If you are pro-choice and/or believe the government has no place legislating women’s bodies, then you should AGREE with the US stance here. Why should women be forced to breastfeed?
-
Literally the first sentence in the actual article: “A resolution to encourage breast-feeding...” Not force, and there’s nothing unusual or anti-choice about encouraging fact-based health practices. We also encourage hand washing and healthy diet w/o compromising choice.
-
You know what IS anti-choice? Interfering with women’s access to accurate information about their bodies and their babies’ health, which is what the U.S. is doing.
-
I have a memory of the GOP getting mad when Michelle Obama suggested kids eat better. It fits.
