The majority of romance novels on the best-seller lists are by and about white, heterosexual people. These writers are trying to change that.https://nyti.ms/2ziMQsZ

Books written for mostly straight white women feature mostly straight white women??? I'm shocked!

In 2017 27% of self identified romance readers were were POC. Having that amount of POC readers and having only 6% of bks put out by trad publishing companies written by POC is a significant disparity that should be addressed.

Which non-Whites are going to fill the void for other non-White’s reading? A Black author won’t be read by an Asian author. And who is going to read an Indian author? But a White author will be read by the vastly larger White audience.

WTF? People read books by authors of a different race than they are all the time. There isn't some police that goes around and says, "Hey, you're white, you can't read books by a Black woman!" Just think about how ridiculous that sounds.

But books by White people need to be “addressed”.

No, the fact that authors of color are significantly underrepresented needs to be addressed.

Lol the horror!! God forbid White people who are straight write about their experiences. Why should White authors write about other races? Reason I saw this in such a charged time if that White author writes about Black Romance they’ll likely be attacked for appropriation.

The majority of romance novels on the best-seller lists are bad and would be bad even with diverse characters. That's not the point, sorry.

No need to. Really. It's a very easy assumption. You give people what they want and it's fine. Just don't pretend it's artistically relevant.

Why should you pretend it's *not* artistically relevant? If you don't read them, that's perfectly fine. Why do you feel the need to comment on something you know nothing about?
