It's, most likely, due to a new phenomenon that has been created in the USA called "marketing." AND...Yes, I am being facetious.

Not in Wales, UK. They’re free for those who need them. This one for those US citizens with a Welsh connection
Not that I can ever imagine free pharmaceuticals for the poverty stricken in the US however

Big PHARMA is allowed under current state & federal regulations 2 discriminate against consumers based on zip code. Same price not just 4 drugs, but surgical procedures, healthcare = no consumer discrimination = equal, fair 2 all Americans, regardless of zip code. It's our right

It also depends on the pharmacy you buy from. My generic seizure meds cost $160-190 at Rite Aid. The small neighborhood pharmacy sells it for $30 (1 month supply) i have no health insurance right now. But Thank God for small businesses.

To hell with that! Depends on what pharmacy you go to. At CVS my generics are 3 times the cost that they are at Walmart, they're 3 miles apart.

I live in Canada these days. Ask me how wild it is to pay more for candy than prescription meds.

Two of my generic drugs cost $10 per refill. As of January, my Part D carrier refuses to pay anything unless my local pharmacy accepts a much lower contribution. It prefers I order online or go to Costco or CVS! It used to pay $7 of the $10 cost! Greed is rampant!
