Why aren't people of childbearing age having as many children as they used to? We asked them.https://nyti.ms/2tX0dtL

I feel like this question, along with ‘Why aren’t millennials buying homes?’ and ‘Why aren’t millennials saving for retirement?’ have been answered at least 100 times in the past three years. Can we stop asking the same questions, @nytimes? It’s getting annoying.

Look it’s either this or interviewing Trump supporters again. The New York Times only has two ideas for articles and today is ignore millennial debt day.

Marriage and kids are just one option people can choose for their lives. Not everyone is supposed to be a parent. Life can be lived so many ways, but we’ve been conditioned for decades to think marriage & kids are endgame. It’s just not true.

I don’t want kids. It’s that simple. People are afraid to say that because the “traditional” folk get all hurt. I don’t see being a mommy as the be all, end all thing in life. It’s almost insulting to tell a parent you don’t want kids. Frankly, I don’t even like kids.

Yep. We're the first generation with true reproductive choice. And lots of us are like 'nope, not interested'. Also, I'm not in America but I'm amazed anyone there can afford to have kids!

They can’t. That’s the problem. My friend and his wife just had their 4th. They must be printing money in their basement or something. I’m 46 years old. I’ve NEVER wanted children. People always told me that I’d change my mind. Never did.

Not only the cost of raising them... But the cost of actual pregnancy & birth in a country without universal health care? Or proper mat/pat leave? Or even decent holiday leave? In the 'modern' job market. It's amazing any young person is willing to have kids.

So, more sex = less babies? You might want to check your maths there, buddy.

It’s money... you can’t expect 20 and 30 something’s with crushing educational debt with stagnant wage jobs to jump on the baby train when they can barely pay rent and food costs after their student loan payments.

Let's see this considered another way. We have a society that considers abortion as a rite of passage...…. Now I ask you the question: I wonder why people aren't having kids?
