Trophy hunting has a very, very narrow legitimate use. Some African govts have regulated trophy hunts to cull sick or elderly individual animals, and use proceeds to fund conservation and anti-poaching efforts for the rest of the species. Sadly it's not always so well regulated.

I flat out can’t relate to anybody who enjoys murdering animals for fun.

Nor can I. I certainly can understand why some African governments prefer it to the alternative. But I'll never relate to people who actually think shooting a giraffe makes them some kind of real man.

Atrocity. Occurs to me that, a la
@davidfolkenflik, a reporter could work this horror, FOI the database of the sick big-game "trophy" licensees. etc. Some digging and we'd have more data and visible groups to address. Rich hunters are slaughtering rare, living beauty...

Their spots turn black with age so my guess is this is an older giraffe.
