A feature article in our Vows section included the ending of issue No. 50. of Batman. We heard the criticism, and we’re hoping to open this up for a wider discussion with our readers.https://nyti.ms/2MC64va

What do you need to discuss? You spoiled the outcome of a hugely hyped comic days before release causing LCS to lose out on tons of sales. Nice job. Why do you insist on spoiling things? Just for your views? Nice going. If anything you should apologize to @TomKingTK for that BS.

And @Joelle_Jones . Her highly anticipated Catwoman book launching on the heels of Batman 50 was also impacted because of your stupid stunt. You owe Tom and Joelle more than an apology. You should feature an interview with them to compensate!

Same with the comic shops who lost business because of your spoiler. Write a feature article and interview these small businesses to give them exposure

"How should news organizations handle spoilers?" Easy, don't share any. Is that too hard to comprehend?

Sharing spoilers is one thing. Sharing them IN THE TITLE is another. Both this writer and the editor should seek different career paths.

Not only did you spoil the issue but you did it without the entire context. Both you & @DCComics screwed up big time.

I'd like to know how you justify the financial impact of this decision. Small business owners are seeing cancellations on product that is not returnable. That is an investment many small shops can't afford to lose. Your irresponsible behavior has consequences.

Just dont do it again, it stops people buying the actual book. To you it's click-bait, to others it's actually a paycheck taking a hit.

It's very simple but sad. The Times in both pieces all but said "it's just a comic book" and the condescension is even more evident this time. It's no wonder that comic fans still don't always feel comfortable being open about their interests.

Dude, this doesn't require a lot of hand-wringing and navel gazing. Has the movie/tv show/comic book/novel/video game been released to the public? No? Then don't put spoilers in the gotdamn headline. Merciful Rao, that's, like, Media Journalism 101.
