False dilemma. “Illegal” immigrants aren’t either criminals or non criminals; if they are non violent, productive members of society seeking asylum, they shouldn’t be treated as criminals. We don’t need to punish them. The economic reasoning is the opposite in fact.

Well they can and do work. In fact they contribute 11.64 billion usd in state and local taxes a year. 13 billion usd into retirement funds. There are ~1 million less illegal immigrants than there were 10 years ago.
