Players must present Skill, ability, qualities that will help a team advance successfully in order to stay on the ice. This is required of all humans skating in the NHL regardless of birth origin. My fam’s cuz’n is HC of the BabyPens; his Bro skated too, not easy to play in NHLpic.twitter.com/6Gzsx8KaDi

Thank you
@nytimes for a great historical article on Canada Day. I was fortunate enough to grow up watching some of the greatest native lacrosse players in the country, and wasn’t aware of their history in hockeyThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

This is a good opportunity for
@nytimes to also address the US reckoning with its history with Indigenous peoples. Or is this not an issue in the United States? - 1 more reply

Everybody went “Oh cool the first Aussie to play in the league won the cup!” “Woah the first English player got drafted!” But the second the NHL highlights indigenous players people are like “Uh who cares?!” I wonder why that could be.

@NaimCardinal Hey Naim. Hope all is well. A co-worker saw this article and sent it my way. Thought you’d might like to see it. Has a couple new names to consider for your collection. -
Thanks, Brett. Did you see the article written in Beckett several months ago? It was very similar.

Haven’t read the entire article yet. Keeping an eye out for an actual copy of the magazine. Would definitely snag it if I saw it.
-
I believe it is the March 2018 edition.

By indigenous, do you mean true Americans, rather than those who originally immigrated from other countries...?!

That’s because it’s an extremely expensive sport for any family. Youth hockey can easily cost a family nearly $1000 a year at the elementary age and upwards of $20k if the kid is good enough to go to a hockey boarding school in another state that allows him more opportunities.

Who cares about race, color, sex! It's sports. The point is to WIN! Stop politicizing everything in life.
