Well, we are a family/household of three making $150,000 per year, yet, buying a home in Howard County, MD is arduous and stressful because we technically earn too much to qualify for incentives.

Haha, thanks, but that will be a tough one to sell because so many other people are worse off.

Ive made 4 attempts to move to the Bay Area..twice, job related. Im in Cali. Even thought of moving there, using savings and starting from scratch. But money-wise?...it aint worth it, and I dont have enuf of it. And SF happens to be my fav'city. So, Portland, OR...here I come

Get in while you can. Portland is on the same path as SF and the Bay Area.

That’s if only one member of the family is working a straight 40hr work week. More likely both parents are working more than one job.

So where do the teachers live?

Teachers are well paid in CA. NY and CA have the highest teacher salaries due to their high costs of living. Not saying all parts, but def in the cities.

Sorry. I know this may look true, but I taught in CA for 35+ years. Teachers' salaries have not kept pace with those of other professions requiring similar education and having similar responsibilities in the last 30 years. 😯

Well of course we don’t keep pace with other professions, that would apparently be asking too much (I teach in NY). I just meant compared to many of the states that have made headlines with strikes we are paid more than the average teacher.

Okay. But always beware of posting anywhere that teachers are well paid, because we both know that's not the case. Those who don't want to fully fund education use such posts as proof they don't need to do so. 😱

Only in California is this possible. Does nobody else see the problem? Liberals? Democrats? They just can't get or give enough.

you dont know what the hell you're talking about. San Diego..a city that has been run mostly by Repubs for a long while...especially where city legislation is concerned, is OVERRUN with homeless. Its at crisis level, there. In SF, there is TONS of low income housing going up.

Illegals are used as slave labor by the wealthy in California— full time housekeepers, gardeners, nanny’s. Cheap cheap labor, with no one to complain to.
