no one could have predicted that a hate-saturated administration overpopulated with incompetent white supremacist ideologues would screw this up

If an American put their child on top of a boxcar in Ohio to send them to Nebraska, the child would be removed to protective custody. To expect that a Hispanic child be returned to a parent who put them in danger is simply racism. The NYT is guilty of bigotry of low expectations.

Get it right NYT. Many of those children were sent to the border as unaccompanied minors. What the hell were we supposed to do with them? These parents had a plan: Smuggle their child into the US, and then demand to be able to follow them. Bad parents. Bad plan. Shameful reporting

Do you think there is a chance that many of them are legitimately seeking asylum, or do you believe the vast majority are just trying to intentionally come here illegally? It is true a lot of bad things are happening in their homelands. What is the right way to seek asylum here?

Of course some are legitimate. But even the poster child’s Mother of this movement wasn’t truly seeking asylum...

Proper vetting is necessary and at some point these peoples countries in which they are fleeing need to be held responsible to change.

Are the miles of bureaucracy greater than the miles from their country of origin? If the bureaucracy miles are greater, they should take the shorter trip back "home"!
