France faces Argentina in the round of 16 today. Many of the players on the World Cup stage came from this sprawl of suburbs around Paris.https://nyti.ms/2KjUGaV

A vast majority of ppl live in suburbs of Paris. 2 millions live in Paris & 12 millions outside Paris (too expensive!!). We love our team & we don't talk about the colour of their skin, they are French. Period.

Paris' banlieues have their counterparts in Buenos Aires' barrios, both diverse breeding grounds for soccer players from working-class backgrounds. Soccer was introduced in Argentina as a sport for the sons of stevedores by the British who also introduced upper-class polo.

Great article @RorySmith, I grew up playing in a league with Pogba and Martial and this story really captures the tension between the banlieues and inner city
