Once an idea hovering on the far-left fringe, the call to abolish ICE has gained traction among progressive candidates in the midtermshttps://nyti.ms/2yVOfp9

Even 19 out of the 26 ICE office officials are calling for a restructuring of ICE and to remove it from under the authority of DHS, so don't just make this a progressive only thing. Separating children from parents is not a political issue, it is a human rights issue.

abolish ICE then what? Create another agency to enforce borders, but with a slightly different name? This is just vacuous virtue signaling

you can fold it back into the DHS, that would change nothing. The work still needs to be done.

If the dems run for re-election by backing the abolishment of ICE, they will lose by a landslide.

Before ICE, as in pre-911, the US had the INS. It worked. The 911 hijackers were not the fault of INS. We can return to a more sane method of handling immigration and deportation, as soon as we elect Dems in Congress who have the vision. #AbolishIce has to be reported in context

Now that Democrats have enthusiastically embraced both #OpenBorders and #AbolishICE, I doubt they will win too many decisive elections in the future. How's that for context?

Spreading that type of rhetoric that is your choice. It seems intended to rile up people who may not pay much attention to substantive issues or who may fear people who are different. Many post-911 laws were passed in haste and can be revisited without “open-border” paranoia.

It remains my opinion that American borders should have been clamped down and sealed following 911. I still cannot fathom why they were not. It is the Democrats' careless rhetoric of promoting #OpenBorders & #AbolishICE over the safety of the American people that is reckless.

The hashtag for open borders is tweeted almost entirely by Trump followers, @FoxNews and perhaps some economists, not Democrats. It’s false information.

If that were true wouldn’t we have more than Russian companies buying FB ads? Delusions spread by MSM. Law is as written. Obama didn’t enforce border but did have 89k kids. Trump had 1900. See the hypocrisy?
