Amna’s first language was Urdu. Talyah’s was Arabic. Zainab's was Pashto. Their kindergarten classroom reflects the motto of Toronto, “Diversity Our Strength.”https://nyti.ms/2tDT9C0

i think you’re the one whose research needs some breadth. the schools i went to had dozens of languages spoken across the student bodies and both schools and students thrived. there’s no destruction, only building each other up.

Amazing ! This is the right step as it will ensure that the future Canadian generation will understand their fellow Canadians much better. A progressive approach is far better than a conservative one as conservatism hampers progress. This is really 'Unity in Diversity.'

And the NYT chose Toronto and a bunch of adorable children who all arrived from a single greater region to make what sort of point? You could have just as easily picked NYC, LA, Seattle to make your point ... except your general narrative is the US is trash. 1/

In California we can also find children whose first language was Wolof, Estonian, Kinyarwanda, Hungarian, Cambodian. They've all been lovingly accepted. The United States has immigrants from everywhere. 2/

do they all live together? cuz in canada ghettos (the traditional sense of the word) are really frowned upon and social/subsidizes housing is always built next to affluent communities so kids can go to the same schools

Diversity becomes a weakness when you have an, at best, bi-lingual teacher who can't adequately communicate with their students.

They are soooo cute and adorable. They're brilliant kids already. They can get along and co-exist together without conflict. Little people can teach the adults about caring and tolerant.
