In 2016, Trump said it had been 38 years since a Republican candidate won Wisconsin. On Monday, he said it had been 44 years. And on Thursday, he said it had been half century. None are correct.https://nyti.ms/2yRrvXj

Donald Trump is a snake-oil salesman who literally lies every few minutes. He has no editing mechanism within his wee-brain. And what's funny (and also disturbing) is that he lies to his own acolytes with the same devil-may-care attitude he does to anyone else.#TrumpLiesMatter

The big difference is that Obama acknowledged and admitted his mistake soon after he said it. Trump misrepresents the truth daily, almost every time he makes a statement, and never admits he made a mistake. He has no regard for the truth or accuracy. This matters.

Dear New York Times, I don't know why you can't write "Trump Lies..." instead of "Trump Falsely Claims..." all the time. But okay, you don't want to say "Lies." In a case like this one, could you say - just for variety's sake - "Trump Doesn't Know What He's Talking About."

      3. Brandon‏ @MaybeRealBrando Jun 29

Because that assumes Trump knows the real fact. I don’t think he does. He just says random dates and thinks none of his voters will know any better, and he’s probably correct. You have to actually have knowledge to be able to lie. On issues of history, Trump has zero knowledge.

I disagree. He knows he’s throwing out random dates and not the correct date. So he knows it’s not true, but he’s doing it to try to aggrandize himself. That’s a lie.

      5. Brandon‏ @MaybeRealBrando Jun 29
        Replying to @CraigPospisil @nytimes

In order to lie, a person needs to know the correct fact. There’s no indication that trump knows the real date, so he can’t be lying. He’s a moron, but these are instances when he can’t lie because he’s an idiot.

      6. Craig Pospisil‏ @CraigPospisil Jun 29
        Replying to @MaybeRealBrando @nytimes

He’s a total moron, but the definition of a lie is to make a statement that you know is untrue with the intent to deceive. He doesn’t need to know the real date to know he’s making something up to make himself appear “better” than he is.
